Today my students learned about how to write a scientific procedure. To begin with I had them write the procedure to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. For most students all that was written was ‘You take the bread, put the stuff on it, and eat it”. I followed their directions as they were which included putting a jar of jelly on top of a bag of bread etc. The students loved this and thought it was hilarious. We came back to this in the end of the lesson and students were to write a correct procedure for making a pbj sandwich with much better results. It turned out to be a wonderful activity for my students on an otherwise crazy day. At one point in the day a student who never participates was so engrossed with giving me his instructions he didn’t even notice the rest of the class staring at him because he was contributing.
Today I am thankful for our junior high boys basketball team win. Our boys did not give up when they were behind and came back to win in the last 30 seconds of the game. Definitely one of the most exciting games I have ever been to!

We did this activity in the fourth grade and it blew my mind. It’s still one of the most memorable pieces of my childhood. Glad it went well!
