But apparently tornados do!
Monday night I was well prepared to complete a stack of grading and get my lessons planned for the week. Having my night planned of course meant that none of it would actually happen. As my roommates and I are playing a quick game of Nertz (really the best card game ever!) we noticed a huge tornado warning on our TV. Just our luck the arrow was pointing right at us. Sure enough about 15 minutes later the siren starts to go off. All 6 of us and our dog go into our little closet hallway by our bathroom and pull a mattress over the door. Thinking nothing really happened we came out to find that we lost a tree and a half in our backyard and one of our gutters ended up in a neighbors tree.
On Tuesday we found out that a F2 tornado had come through our downtown (aka the area we live in). This brought back memories of the HUGE F4 tornado from last spring. Thankfully there was not nearly as much damage or injuries during this storm. But really how much can a town take? Our town is already virtually empty in the way of any sort of commerce and now we are the place that gets hit by tornados.
On a brighter note, we started life science in my classroom this week and they LOVE it! My students are completely engrossed as well as baffled by the human body. I sure am glad they were engrossed today as I had my official observation for the year.

Maybe they should move your city to Kansas! Thank goodness everyone is ok…again!
