3 days into the 2011 teaching year. My students have, for the most part, been pretty good this week. I am more out of my usual then them as I have not quite gotten used to waking up before 6 am yet.
I have decided that this year I will work with my seventh period students to read a book. The novel I have chosen is called “The Handbook for Boys” by Walter Dean Myers. I picked it because my students really liked the summary I read to them about it. We will see how it works… We have made it through the first half of the first chapter in 3 days. There are a lot of characters, but their favorite so far is a guy named Cap. I think the reason they like him is because I told them his name is the same as my Grandpa’s initials. They thought this was really cool and easy to remember.
